Well… Things are starting to move along. It started with a “jam session“. Basically, Saccovan was having a hard time wrapping his head around “Man God” and now I see why. We hadn’t actually established a work formula. In this case , I think I understand how it fell apart.

He asked me to come up with a bassline off the top of my head. Well, I had one for a song I wanted to do already there. I started singingthis bass riff from a song that had been lingering in my head for a tune called “Godless”, we later changed to “Saintless”. I guess if we’re gonna cause controversy, we don’t necessarily have to rub everyone’s noses in it right off the bat.

Now the fun started when I began sort of scatting and beat boxing a bass riff with beats. Within minutes, he began emulating the notes on the keyboards and the song was born. In two hours the first skeletal structure began. After figuring out the main bassline to a guide beat, we then went on to having me sing the melody as a guide structure.
This helped put together some of the choirs and orchestration to give it temporary flesh. This started happens quickly as we cracked open Miroslav Philarmonik, an incredible program of MIDI samples of real live orchestrations and real voiced choirs. In 2 actual hours of work, we put together a plan and I took it home to figure out what’s next.

A week later, I went back, 3 hours later, we deleted allot of the old as we found it out of tune, fixed the bass, added 3 different sets of drum riffs for each section of the song. We basically have restructured the song to something totally different than any other song. It now has an Intro-Verse, Outré-Verse, Bridge and chorus. We call it that because the second verse in each block is somewhat different from the first verse in melody.

So I’d say that “Saintless” is a go. As we go along the path we’ve started walking, this one will be in the can very shortly. This formula feels good. It’s moving along much faster. We ‘re doing in hours what once took weeks with prior producers. We’ll probably be able to plow through “Man God” also once we’ve finished this. It’s coming along nicely.

That’s the update for now. On Sunday I go up to Webkittyn’s house to work on the website. I’ll be looking to put a “blogroll” or something on it somewhere or something that says the other sites have been updated when this and “the Path to Endarkenment” get updated. I need to make TheDarkstar.net a true NETWORK.
